The auditorium is decorated in sumptuous red velvet and a huge chandelier hangs from the ceiling painted by Chagall.

A former theater, this beautiful place reveals the secrets of the best perfume maker of Grasse, the world’s capital of perfume in the South of France and illustrates the 3,000 years of perfume history.

This museum was created in 1882, almost 50 years after the Tussaud Museum in London, on the initiative of Arthur Meyer and funded by a woman from Strasbourg married to an Englishman. This type of museum met the new desire of the general public to be able to identify with famous figures of their era, since photography was not yet used in the press. With his unique profile as a caricaturist, theater costume designer and sculptor, Alfred Grévin was the ideal person to give shape to the characters.
